Archäologie LXVIII: Les Paul - August 14th 2006
Les Paul, the inventor of the solid-body electric guitar, has passed away at the age of 94 today from complications of severe pneumonia at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York according to Northern New Jersey’s News 12 cable channel. The jazz guitarist’s invention led to the Rock n’ Roll revolution and over the years he’s played with many of the biggest names in the genre including Paul McCartney, Keith Richards and Steve Miller.
Recently, Paul had been performing every Monday the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City and spent most of his time at home in Mahwah, NJ with his extended family. Les Paul was one of the most important figures in the development of rock music and he will be sorely missed.
