Branded content is a form of advertising that uses the generating of content as a way to promote the particular brand which funds the content's production. Often utilized in native marketing, and somewhat similar in appearance, though different in technique than content marketing, branded content typically presents itself as something other than a marketing ploy first, albeit simultaneously and always presented as a highly branded property and often labeled as "sponsored." Contrary to embedded marketing, where the brand is placed within the content, branded content places the content within the brand. Unlike conventional forms of editorial content, branded content is generally funded entirely by a brand or corporation rather than studio or a group of solely artistic producers, and is used in film, video games, music, the internet, events, installations and television.

The BMW film series The Hire is a series of eight short films (averaging about ten minutes each) produced for the Internet in 2001 and 2002. A form of branded content, the shorts were directed by popular filmmakers from around the globe and starred Clive Owen as "the Driver" while highlighting the performance aspects of various BMW automobiles. The series made a comeback in 2016, fifteen years after its original run ended

After the controversial disappearance of their Chief Medical Officer, a shadowy bio genetics company is under siege by the FBI for secretly cloning humans. Amidst the chaos, Molgen’s head mercenary Holt (Jon Bernthal) is sneaking out the last living clone, a young woman named Lily (Dakota Fanning) to a mysterious buyer. Holt has hired The Driver (Clive Owen), accompanied by a heavily armed squadron of fellow Molgen mercenaries, to evade the authorities and deliver Lily and himself to the buyer. The journey takes an unexpected turn and Holt is forced to take matters into his own hands, as the driver once again demonstrates his mettle and extraordinary driving skills. The Escape is directed by Neill Blomkamp. The original BMW Films series called "The Hire" launched with eight short films released in 2001 & 2002, made by eight different directors: John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-wai, Guy Ritchie, Alejandro González Iñárritu, John Woo, Joe Carnahan & Tony Scott.

Das Silicon Valley ist die Keimzelle einer digitalen disruptiven Dienstleistungs- und Wissensgesellschaft, die inzwischen beinahe die ganze Welt umspannt - aber heute noch nirgendwo so stark ausgeprägt ist wie in den Vereinigten Staaten. An der amerikanischen Westküste sind Tech-Giganten wie Alphabet, Apple oder Facebook entstanden, ihre Firmengründer wurden zu globalen Superstars und verhalfen den Nerds zu Sexappeal. Sie schufen neue Märkte und Business-Ökosysteme, und brachten unzählige profitable Geschäftsmodelle des Industriezeitalters ins Wanken.

Und die nächste Generation des Valley startet ebenso lustvoll den Angriff auf die Giganten des Industriezeitalters. Ganze Branchen werden von Airbnb, Uber und anderen hochbewerteten Einhörnern angegriffen. Sie sind dabei Vorbild für die Startups in aller Welt. Gründer rund um den Globus eifern den Kapuzenpulli-Helden von der Westküste nach. Nichts und niemand soll vor dem Tsunami der Disruption sicher sein: Die Theorie der "schöpferischen Zerstörung" des österreichischen Ökonomen Joseph Schumpeter wurde mit einer beinahe religiösen Innovationsgläubigkeit verinnerlicht - Verdrängungswettbewerb und Angriff auf das Etablierte als kategorischer Imperativ.

Diese Innovationen haben Kulturtechniken verändert, die Art zu kommunizieren, sich zu organisieren, zu informieren, zu erinnern und zu orientieren. Kurzum: Sie haben ganze Gesellschaften verändert. Die digitale Logik der agilen, fluiden horizontalen Netzwerkbildung ist inkompatibel mit dem Betriebssystem des Industriezeitalters und seiner trägen, vertikalen Massenorganisationslogik. Infolge der digitalen Revolution geraten diese Massenorganisationen und vertikale Hierarchien immer mehr unter Druck - die Krise der Volksparteien und repräsentativen Demokratie, mitsamt des ihr nachgelagerten Soziotops der Experten aus Wissenschaft und Journalismus, ist Ausdruck dieser Entwicklung...

Interessante Überlegungen, - auch wenn der Autor Foresight Manager (bei dem Beratungsunternehmen Z-Punkt) ist.
